Jackie Steffen

Who ARE you? I’m Jackie! I’m a twenty-something professional artist just makin’ it by with the skills that I have :) I live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with my husband (who is also my best friend and partner-in-crime) and our five cats, Wilma, Grendel, Lando, Seven-of-Nine and Yoda. I have a formal education in the arts, with a background in printmaking, painting, communication design and art history. I also sew, write and run a small business on the side.
Where else can I find your work on the web? I own and operate a small press publishing company called Lovesick Robot Press, and I’m the project manager for the Studio Sunday artist collective. You can also visit my professional illustration portfolio site. Please note: some content on the following websites is for mature audiences only, so please exercise caution when browsing.
What programs do you make your art with? For banner graphics and icons, I use Adobe Illustrator. I’m also fluent in programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Corel Painter, so if you’re looking for a more painterly quality in your custom digital graphics, I can do that, too.
What inspires you? I’m always looking to improve and develop my skills as an artist, so I find that I’m always doing research and learning new things. I’m particularly fond of sequential art (comics) and the history behind it. I also idolize a mile-long list of artists, some of which are:
- Yoshitaka Amano
- Alberto Vargas
- Tex Avery
- Chuck Jones
- Hosukai
- Eyvind Earle
- James Jean
- Ashley Wood
- Peter Chung
- Henri Toulouse-Lautrec
- Lucien Freud
- Paula Rego
- Gustav Klimt
- And many more!
